The Info Connect LIS Directory 2000 is a major web site set up in 1995 exclusively for information scientists, librarians and other information professionals, as well as university library school students, who want to quickly find and connect to the best professional and academic Internet sites (Web, Gopher, Telnet/Tn 3270, Newsgroups, WAIS, E-mail lists and Ftp), rich in information and resources on libraries, information centres/units, information science, librarianship, LIS products/services, online information retrieval, databases(online, CD-ROM, Internet etc), database hosts, LIS schools and LIS professional organisations.

The directory, with over 3000 URLs, (which can be browsed or searched) is also international in coverage, and multi-disciplinary in content and is thus a valuable bookmark e.g. for law librarians, medical information scientists, and those who work in public, academic, business and other special libraries such as scientific libraries worldwide.

Based on regular extensive searching on the web and voluntary URL contributions submitted by web surfers worldwide, access to the directory is free and updated every 2 weeks.

Info Connect LIS Directory 2000 is compiled and maintained by Godfrey Oswald, MSc an information scientist based in London, UK. Many thanks to Ms Alina Savu, for updating existing links regularly, while working hard with university studies.

Info Connect List of LIS Records 1999

Launched on the web in January 1999, (to replace the January 1997 edition) the Info Connect List of LIS Records 1999, is a factual reference book on the Internet, of major records on libraries, information science and librarianship, akin to the Guinness Book of Records. It includes such records as, the oldest university library in the world, the most expensive library in the world, the largest public library in Europe, the 100 largest and important libraries in the world, the first CD-ROM database, the first professional UK information scientist, and the top 10 library schools in the United States.
